چکیده
Abstract Tunable mode converter is a key component of channel switching and routing for optical communication system by adopting mode-division multiplexing. Traditional hardly implements high-order conversion dynamic tunability simultaneously. In this study, we design tunable filled with liquid crystal, which can convert fundamental into multiple modes (TE 0 , TE 1 2 ) good performance low intrinsic loss. For multiple-objective task, propose an inverse framework based on the adjoint method. To experimentally prove our design, air or water demultiplexer are fabricated to implement routing. The experimental results agree well simulation reveal crosstalk only around −7 dB. With its efficiency, proposed flow be powerful tool multifunction device design.

Tunable beam steering enabled by graphene metamaterials.
We demonstrate tunable mid-infrared (MIR) beam steering devices based on multilayer graphene-dielectric metamaterials. The effective refractive index of such metamaterials can be manipulated by changing the chemical potential of each graphene layer. This can arbitrarily tailor the spatial distribution of the phase of the transmitted beam, providing mechanisms for active beam steering. Three dif...

We think of flip chip as a solution for better performance, high I/O or absolute size reduction. But a new and exciting technology is now emerging where the flip chip is the unique answer to extreme cost reduction in a very low I/O product, the RFID tag. RFIDs are Radio Frequency Identification systems tiny two-way radios with immense commercial potential. The simplest design consists of an ant...

We demonstrate a tunable on chip polymer waveguide micro ring resonator (MRR) device. The transmission spectrum and extinction ratio are controlled by electrowetting on dielectric (EWOD), via the application of voltage to a droplet. As a result the droplet covers a portion of the MRR waveguide and changes its effective refractive index. This method can be used for efficiently tuning a variety o...
متن کاملOn-chip sub-terahertz surface plasmon polariton transmission lines with mode converter in CMOS
An on-chip low-loss and high conversion efficiency plasmonic waveguide converter is demonstrated at sub-THz in CMOS. By introducing a subwavelength periodic corrugated structure onto the transmission line (T-line) implemented by a top-layer metal, surface plasmon polaritons (SPP) are established to propagate signals with strongly localized surface-wave. To match both impedance and momentum of o...
